Shaving my head for Endometriosis action month
March is Endometriosis action month, and I want to do my part. So, at the end of the month, I am going to shave my head to raise money for the charity Endometriosis UK.
Endometriosis is so common, faced by 1 in 10 people with periods. 54% of people do not even know it exists because it is overlooked and understudied.
Action is needed to raise awareness of this condition to stop medical professionals' common dismissal of period pains.
Endometriosis UK works to reduce the inequalities surrounding the condition through support services, campaigning, awareness and information. It takes on average eight years to diagnose, with over 68% initially misdiagnosed.
This charity is close to my heart as my sister Heather was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2020, and I witnessed her experience many unnecessary hurdles to receive her diagnosis and treatment.
I am grateful for any donations made, no matter how small, as they will go to a great cause.
