Shaving My Head for Charity After Brain Tumour Diagnosis

My Story:

Hi everyone,
As some of you may know, my brain doesn’t quite work the way it should.

What started with epilepsy eventually developed into a complex neurological condition. That alone was already a huge mental and physical challenge — but in August 2023, after experiencing prolonged seizures, intense migraines, and a decline in my speech, memory, and mobility, we discovered I had a tumour growing in my brain.

At first, we were told it was just a simple cyst, which brought a sense of relief. But as my symptoms worsened, further investigations revealed it was something more serious. A tumour — a word that didn’t quite make sense at the time and still feels surreal.

Fear hit not just me, but my friends and family, and so began the journey we’re still on — a path filled with uncertainty, hospital visits, and a complete shift in how I live my day-to-day life.

Due to the tumour’s continued growth and the impact it’s having, the decision has now been made to move forward with surgery. On the 17th of July, I’ll be facing the biggest challenge yet: the initial stages to remove it.

Back in December 2024, I began to notice that — as a side effect of medications, stress, and everything else — my hair was thinning, falling out, and becoming one of the hardest parts of this experience mentally. Despite making jokes and trying to stay positive, I realized that if I’m going to endure a life filled with chronic illness and pain, I want to face it on my own terms.

So, on the 13th of July 2025, just days before we meet my neuro surgeon I’ll be shaving my head. Not just to prepare myself, but in solidarity with others who are fighting their own battles with similar conditions.

In the midst of everything, I want to do something empowering and positive. That’s why I’ll be shaving my head to raise funds for two incredible charities that support people like me during their most difficult times.

My goal is to raise £500 which will be split evenly between these two organizations. They provide crucial support, fund life-changing research, and advocate for people affected by epilepsy, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and brain injuries caused by seizures.

Whether you’re able to donate or simply share this page, your support means the world to me.

Thank you for standing by my side and helping turn something so difficult into something truly meaningful.
