Shavin' for Haven

Hi Everyone,
If you don't want to read the rant: I'm shaving my head as a fundraiser for my little mate pictured. Give me money, good Karma will follow.

Shavin' for Haven!

If you haven't yet had the pleasure, I'd like you to meet my little mate Haven (aka Havey, Sparkles, Miss H).
She might be about the strongest, most powerful kid I've had the pleasure of knowing. At 6 years old, she's about 4 months into fighting leukemia. It's a long, drawn out, painful battle, but she somehow keeps this beautiful smile on her face, and manages to still bring light in to the lives of those around her.
I met her mum, Mellissa, in high school in Emerald, and over the years our friendship has grown into what I can only define as one of soulmates. While our lives drew us apart, our love never faultered, and now we find ourselves reunited in a truly painful way.
But luckily I know our Miss H is the strongest, most powerful little girl this side of the sun. Haven and her family have a long battle ahead, and being so far from home in Emerald, Mellissa and Haven are staying at Ronald McDonald House. While having this opportunity is wonderful, it only accomodates for Mellissa and Haven with no other facilities like cooking. Mellissa misses her two boys Baylin and Korbin, and her husband Brent, and would love to have some space to be a regular family. I would love to get some funds together so that we can get some space to have the boys down while Havey can't be too far away from the hospital, that will still allow Mellissa to cook for the kids and Brent and keep things as normal as possible. Just a few days here and there in a self-contained room will allow a bit of normality. A night or two away from the hospital with a window to open and some fresh air (us Central Queensland folk aren't built for hotel living!) would make things a little easier.
To help things along, I'm going to extend the undercut to the top, and shave the lot. I'm calling it Shavin' for Haven. She scrunched her nose up when I pitched the idea (WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT FOR?!), but I think she'll come around.
The kid is a gem, and for any family to have to go through this is horrendous. Being able to provide a little comfort would mean a lot to me, and to Mellissa and her family.
Plus seeing my huge head, which was certainly never sculpted to be shaved, bare and naked for the spring, should motivate some donations. I'll be getting the number 1 on October 28th down at Bellbowrie Sports and Community Club. Come on down, donate and laugh (I dare ya). They're stuck here for a solid 8 weeks while Havey undergoes intense treatment, not to mention the 12 months plus between Emerald and Brisbane after that.
Donations at the link if you don't see me in person first.
Its easy to make a difficult situation a little bit easier for a beautiful family. Thank you for your support!
