I'm Tiarne. I run Riffs For A Reason, a Gold Coast live music organisation, and on Saturday 26 September we're putting on Balcony Bash Vol. 3 at the Coolangatta Hotel, eight Australian bands across one afternoon and evening, for a cause that means a lot to us.

My partner Sam plays in one of the bands, Johnny & The C-Sections.

Sam's mum has leukaemia. It was the slow kind, until recently it turned into a fast and aggressive lymphoma, which is rare and much harder to treat. She's going through chemo now.

September is Blood Cancer Month. So rather than just talk about it Sam and I, along with some of the bands are getting our heads shaved on stage that day, in front of the crowd.

We'll also be running other fundraisers and we'll have barbers and hairdressers there so you can get your own hair cut or shaved too... if you're brave enough.

Every dollar raised through this GoFundMe goes straight to Women's Cancer Support, a Gold Coast charity based in Nerang that supports women going through cancer. They run support groups, wellbeing and exercise classes, hospital visits and comfort packs.

We chose them because they do exactly what Sam's mum and every woman like her actually needs - practical, local, human support from people who understand it.
