Sponsored 'Shave your Councillor' to Stop NHS Cuts
I'm Helen Whitehead, one of your District Councillors for Margate Central Ward.
For over a year and a half now I have been doing my best to help fight the closure of our local stroke unit as part of SONiK (Save Our NHS in Kent). My father having had a stroke several months ago, and having been treated brilliantly at QEQM I know how vital it is for us to have this time critical service close to us.
Our best chance as a community to keep emergency stroke care at QEQM is now our Judicial Review of the validity of the overall decision/consultation process. This requires us to raise fifteen thousand pounds to contribute towards the legal costs of the case.
We still have a way to go; and although I can't do much, this I can do.
So; on the 5 September, IF THIS GoFundMe REACHES £1200 my head will be shaved in a public location in Margate. And the remaining stubble can be dyed any colour you wish; simply write whatever colour you think I should dye it with your donation, and watch the next Council meetings to see the result!
I am more than happy to do this to keep the services we desperately need; I think this could be very entertaining, so please, donate to save the services we need, pick whatever colours you like, and have as much fun with this as possible. I know I will.
