Shave My Head for Charity! Eeek!!!
Donation protected
I’M SHAVING MY HAIR OFF FOR CHARITY! And here’s why...
When I worked in Private Equity and before I had children, I used to get a nice bonus once a year, which I would ALWAYS do two things with.... 1. I'd treat myself to a designer handbag, and 2. I'd donate a matching sum to charity.
Well I haven't been able to do either for a while now and although I'm quite happy to forgo the unnecessarily expensive handbag, I really do miss the giving money to special causes part.
I have therefore been thinking of different ways I could raise a decent amount for a variety of worthwhile causes.
I've had to accept that the probability of training for a marathon is nil, not least because it is well beyond my current sporting capabilities! Plus I just don’t have the time or commitment levels necessary for the training.
So I've decided to shave my head. All off, to a no. 2 - eeeeeeeek!
And I really hope that in doing so, you will be inspired by my act and donate to this bold, brave and some might say crazy act!
If you'd like to see me do this (I'll be doing it live on Facebook and Instagram on the 4th July) and if you'd also like to get a warm fuzzy feeling by giving a bit of your hard earned money to some seriously amazing causes, please please please donate! Here!!!!
I will be sharing out all donations equally between a few charities that I have great admiration for and a personal connection to. They all help children, locally, nationally and internationally and I hope that by my doing this, I will raise some much needed money and awareness too.
The charities are:
SNAP, a local charity in Brentwood that gives much needed support and advice to parents of children with special needs (No.1077787)
FOP Friends, a National Charity that is researching for a cure for a debilitating genetic condition that causes bone to form in muscles and other connective tissues such as tendons and ligaments, in many cases, forming a second skeleton that imprisons the body in bone (No.1147704)
TG Foundation, a charity close to my heart, that raises money to help victims of sexual violence in the Congo. Not only do they help treat women and girls who have been violently raped, but they also assist with education and food programmes for the children and orphans of affected families (No.1134942)
Choose Love, as many of you will know, my sister has volunteered a few times in Greece and the plight of so many ordinary people, caught up in wars not of their making, truly affects me. It really isn't impossible to imagine that it could one day be us and it is just down to sheer luck that we were born in the right place, at the right time (No.1177927)
And last but not least, I'll be donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust and if there's any money spare, I'd like to donate it to get the wig made too (No.1113172)
There were so many worthwhile causes it was really hard to choose, hence why I've got so many! Thank you for reading and I hope you will support me on my quest for baldness!! Please check out the links of all the charities and please share this far and wide. I'm bricking it!
Thank you in advance,
Melissa xx
