Shave for Tanya

This page was set up for our sister, cousin, aunty, niece, daughter, and friend, Tanya Roberts.

Over the past 15 years, Tanya has been at war with 7 different types of cancer. In March, Tan was given a new diagnosis, this time 3 different types, all at once. In July, she was told that the cancer in her stomach was spreading through her body, and there was nothing the doctors could do. She was given 6-9 months to live.

Walking away from that appointment, Tan and her family weren’t ready to give up. After considering a clinical trial in Vienna, Austria, and trying a different clinical trial in Newcastle, Tanya decided the best treatment for her is a form of Traditional Medicine.

To quote Tanya, “I would rather live a life of pain, than give up the fight and allow my family to bury me.”

So where do I fit in? Like many in the Kempsey community, Tanya is like an older sister.

After hearing the latest news on Tan’s challenges, I wanted to help in some way. After speaking to her about the idea, I decided to shave my beard in the hopes of giving Tan some financial support to go towards anything she wants or needs.
