Shauntey Maniago and Baby Girl

Shauntey Maniago

Thursday, October 1, 2020 ... Shauntey told her mom she was having very bad headaches.  She was 27 years old and 6 months pregnant.
They went to the ER on Saturday, October 3rd. Tests were done and found that she had swelling in her brain.  They admitted Shay into ICU at Maui Memorial Hospital.
They moved her to a regular room later on Sunday October 4th
The family tought that everything was better, but on Monday evening October 5th things took a turn and she was back in the ICU by Tuesday mornin, October 6th.

On Thursday morning October 8th her mom was notified that she would have to be
air transported to Queens Medical Center on Oahu.  She was not on the air ambulance until late Thursday night.

The medication that they were giving her was not working..  Shauntey was also 6 months pregant with her baby girl.

Shauntey was very weak but still could communicate with the paramedics on
her way to Oahu. Her mom, Nani was notified Friday morning little after 1am, that upon arriving at Queens Medical Center her breathing was getting weak so they had to do
an emergency C-Section to save her baby girl.

Shay was put on life support right after they delivered the baby.  Later on that morning was when the hospital called her mom to let her know that Shauntey had no brain activity and to make arrangements to fly out to Oahu to see her. Life Support was the only thing that was keeping her heart beating.  Mind you that because of all the Covid 19 restrictions as soon as she entered the hospital on Maui back on the 3rd of October she was alone.  No one could visit her.

Her family is grateful that her baby girl is stable and appears healthy, given the circumstances and her being born 3 months early.
Funds raised will help with the incurred hospitalization and burial for Shay, and ongoing NICU expenses her baby girl, who’s name is Shauntey Leinaala Kailani Maniago-Bascar.    She is currently in NICU and family will have to fly to and from over the coming weeks/months until she is strong enough to come home.
