On the evening of September 14, 2025, our beloved friend Shauna Leeks passed away in Queens, NY. Shauna was a bright light—known for her laughter, kindness, and generosity of spirit. She had no immediate family or no life insurance. The responsibility of honoring her life and arranging her final care now falls to her friends and community.
Shauna was deeply rooted in her faith and community. She was a cherished member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in New York City, where she sang with the St. Bart’s Singers, was an integral part of the parish’s LGBTQ+ group, and participated in Cursillo, a Christian renewal movement. Shauna also once served as a member of the NYPD Auxiliary, giving her time in service to the city she loved.
We are asking for your help to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of Shauna’s cremation, funeral, and related expenses. Every dollar donated will go directly toward ensuring she receives the dignity and respect she deserves. Any funds received over the final expenses will be remitted to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church for use on their homeless food programming, a cause she cared about.
Shauna touched countless lives through her music, her faith, and her friendship. Now, we hope those same lives she touched will come together to help us in this difficult time.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign widely. Even the smallest contribution makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that Shauna’s memory is honored with love.
