On Thursday, October 16, our beloved Shauna Shook was found deceased in her home in Omaha, Nebraska. Shauna was a loving mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her sudden and tragic death has left our family heartbroken and her two daughters—ages 16 and 23—devastated.
Shauna had recently been in a relationship with Benjamin L. Myers, who was released from prison in July 2025 after serving six years for a domestic violence conviction. We believe Shauna reached out for help to leave him shortly before her death. The Omaha Police Department Homicide Unit is still investigating the circumstances surrounding her passing.
Shauna met Myers while he was staying at a halfway house. They moved into an apartment together on September 5 with rent and furnishings provided through Rise of Omaha, an organization that assists with inmate re-entry. Forty days later, Shauna’s daughters made the unimaginable discovery of their mother’s body.
Our family is raising funds to help cover Shauna’s funeral and burial expenses. Any remaining donations will go directly to her daughters to help them rebuild their lives in the wake of this tragedy.
Shauna was a community mom to anyone who needed it. She was a kind, gentle soul who cared deeply for her family. She deserved safety, love, and time—things that were stolen from her too soon.
If you are able, please consider donating to help us lay Shauna to rest, honor Shauna’s memory and provide her daughters with the support they need. No contribution is too small, and your generosity means more than words can express.
Thank you for your compassion and for standing with victims and survivors of domestic violence.
