Sharswood-Help restore slave cabin and burial site

 

We share the tears and joy you have displayed in your emails, messages, text and calls. It isn't just a story about the past, this story is about people, and those people happen to be our family. We are the Miller Family. Discovering the history of the Miller Plantation, we share this unbelievable story about Sharswood. We share how Fred Miller, the great-great-
grandson of an enslaved Sharswood couple, David and Violet Miller unknowingly purchased the plantation where they had been enslaved. Their youngest daughter, Sarah, is our great-grandmother. Born poor to an enslaved family. We can imagine that the our family was full of God’s faith and grace. A praying family who would have been rich in good deeds, generous with what little they had and always willing to help and share with others because that is who we are as a family today.

We request donations to restore the dilapidated slave dwelling and clean and create a memorial for the Enslaved gravesite. With the rehabilitation of the slave dwelling , our mission for Sharswood Manor Estate will be a learning experience and to share facts about our past and knowledge of our own personal experiences that brought us to this time. We have heard, with a clear and loud voice; therefore, we must act and complete these two important task. With your help, we can accomplish this mission.
