Sharon has been battling cancer for over a year and is now unable to work. She and her husband have been married for 13 years and together for 23 years and they have a daughter, aged 22 named Alexa. The debts are becoming a heavy weight on a family that is already going through some traumatic changes and having to live a “new normal”!
Sharon’s diagnosis was vulvar cancer, and cervical cancer.
She had surgery on January 27th, 2015 to biopsy the tumor and they also took the lymph nodes in the pelvic area. She started radiation in March, going five times a week for seven weeks and five treatments of chemotherapy once a week for five weeks. After the chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she was given a PET scan and an MRI in July and told that she was clear of cancer. Thirty one days later the cancer was back and more aggressive.
Sharon had major surgery on October 2, 2015 and due to the location of the tumor, her colon became involved. She had to have three major surgical procedures at once, with a weakened immune system and with no other options. Her surgery included a full hysterectomy, resection / reconstruction of the vaginal area, a vaginal flap, and removal of the colon, leaving her with a colostomy bag.
After being released from the Moffitt Cancer Center, Sharon developed an infection that sent her back to the hospital on October 23, 2015 causing her another week stay in the hospital.
We've created this fund so that Sharon and her family can focus on her health to make sure we will be seeing her smile for decades to come.
The abundance of medical bills, along with extra expenses, has added another level of stress to the family. So I am humbly asking for donations to alleviate this burden. Any amount is helpful and appreciated more than can be expressed!
