Sharon was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells. The good news is we think it was caught early, and it is treatable and manageable. Medicare pays 80%, and our co-pay is 20%. So our share is close to $6,000. Treatment will begin once we pay our portion, and as you can imagine, being on a fixed income, money is tight. Beyond the co-pay, there is also transportation and time off work for caregivers who have to take her to and from her appointments.
