Hi there! My name is Melanie Hedman, and I consider myself one of Sharon’s closest friends since our time at the credit union in Alaska. But in our time there, not only was she an amazing friend, she was also my Alaska Ohana. Ironically, her oldest daughter, Aaliyah, her best friend, Suite, is now my oldest “bonus” daughter, once I married Suite’s dad, Scott. We’ve always been close! Even now, we are reunited down here in Arizona, as of a few years ago! Makes my heart so happy to watch the kids grow up, and even have children of their own.

For this fundraiser, I wanted to include a note from Sharon:

Aloha everyone, I’m reaching out with a humble heart to ask for support during a very difficult time for our family. My husband is currently unable to work for at least two weeks as he recovers from an amputation. This unexpected medical event has brought a lot of emotional and financial stress to our household.

I left my well-paying job earlier this year, to not only save my own mental health and well being but that of my family. We’ve been doing our best to stay afloat and maintain stability. However, this urgent medical situation has set us back much more than we were prepared for. Now with my husband’s lost income and added medical costs, even covering everyday expenses has become a challenge.

Any donation — any amount — will help us get through this tough period and give my husband the time he needs to heal without added worry. We deeply appreciate your kindness, prayers, and support.
