Sharonette Leonard’s funeral expenses
Donation protected
My beloved mother and best friend Sharonette J. Leonard unexpectedly passed away from an unknown illness on Monday January 10, 2022 at John Hopkins Hospital located in Baltimore MD. She was initially admitted to Washington Hospital Center in May 2021 due to a flesh eating bacteria. This illness weakened most of her organs and poisoned her blood. After numerous surgeries, body scans, blood transfusions, dialysis, trac insertions, chest and feeding tubes as well as ventilators, she started to improve and was discharged home in November. She took a turn for the worse after being home with me for only two weeks and was readmitted to the ICU at John Hopkins. Physicians and nurses were unsuccessful with locating the source of this new infection. Therefore it caused my mother to go into a septic coma which is a life- threatening condition. This happens when your blood pressure drops to a dangerously low level after an infection has been discovered in the body. This lead to renal failure and multiple organ failure. At that point her condition was considered gravely and my mother was actively dying. I tried everything to save my mother by requesting specific test to be ran to locate the source of infection; however all tests were completed without success. My mother was then given less than 24 hours to live. As I sat at her bedside counting each inhale and exhale, I finally said my last good bye at 7:19am on January 10, 2022.
She was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend who touched the lives of those around her. She leaves behind her mother,2 daughters, 2 sons,7 grandkids, 5 siblings and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was a kind and sweet soul that loved to help others with a beautiful and unique disposition in life. She loved her family and kids deeply and was the happiest when she was at the beach or any body of water. My mother fell in love with drawing and modeling at a very young age. She loved to hand dance and listen to music throughout the day, it always made her smile. One of her favorite songs is sung by Bill Withers “Lovely Day”. I would play that often when she became ill to lift her spirits. She was one of the most selfless people you will ever meet. Her smile and energy was felt when she entered any room. She was also dedicated to the community. She was an amazing drug counselor and was always willing to help those suffering from mental illness and/or addition.
We are all devastated by my mothers passing and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give my mom the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes.
I am currently asking for donations to help to cover the funeral cost. We need to raise $8,000 by Thursday January 20, 2022 in order to be able to afford the funeral service.
Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time. You are truly appreciated.
Thank you
