Throughout her lifetime, Sharon has been helping others however she could. As a little girl, she grew up taking in lost animals and giving care and comfort to those who needed it most. This is a trait that would follow her into her adult life as she went into nursing. She worked as an LPN at various doctors' offices, nursing homes, and hospitals over the course of 48 years. My mom would often come home from working a long night shift talking about a particular patient or patient's family member (never disclosing names) who had particularly weighed on her heart. I know from personal experience the comfort of her nursing skills. She often did more for my brother and I when we were sick with the warmth of her hugs or the calmness of her voice than any medicine could do. I know I am biased, but as her daughter, I can say honestly that anyone who has her as their nurse is lucky enough to enjoy her caring heart and loving nature.
Anyone who knows Sharon knows that she is an unstoppable force who's life mantra can be summed up with "where there's a will, there's a way." That has not changed since her diagnosis of Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer in October of 2019. The first things she told my brother and I after disclosing the news was "I'm going to fight this. I'm going to keep a good attitude." Despite her ongoing chemotherapy and treatment, Sharon still works as a nurse once a week at a post-surgical center in Metairie.
After a lifetime of helping others, Sharon is now the one who needs help. We don't know all that lies ahead with this disease, but on behalf of my Mom and my family we are asking for any donations that could help us in the fight to come. Sharon is a woman of strong faith, conviction, empathy and grace, and we believe that if anyone can beat cancer, it's her.
We appreciate your prayers, thoughts, messages, and any donations.
Thank you!
