El 26 de octubre, la vida de Sharon y toda su familia cambió en un instante.

Era un domingo donde nos despertamos pensando que sería un día más-. Estando en la cocina con su hijo, de pronto ya no pudo seguir platicando con él..

Sufrió un evento cerebro vascular isquémico masivo provocado por múltiples coágulos sin previo aviso ni síntomas ..

Hoy está enfrentándose a la batalla más difícil de su vida..

Estuvo casi tres meses en el hospital, en terapia intensiva, sin saber si iba a despertar..

¡¡Gracias a Ds Sharon despertó con conciencia!!

Sharon tiene 52 años, es mamá de dos jóvenes de 19 y 21, una mujer maravillosa, profundamente amada por su esposo, familia y todos la que la conocen.

Actualmente ya está en casa, pero permanece en cama con habla y movilidad limitadas. Aún no puede caminar ni mover el lado derecho de su cuerpo.

Han pasado casi cuatro meses de intenso trabajo, -en donde Sharon -con una fuerza interior inquebrantable-; y con la ayuda de los médicos, terapeutas y su familia, nos esforzamos para que pueda lograr su recuperación. Se han tenido avances pero todavía le queda un largo camino por recorrer..

Tenemos que actuar de manera urgente para que ella pueda alcanzar su autonomía e independencia; ya que el primer año es cuando la neuroplasticidad del cerebro está en su máxima capacidad de sanar y regenerarse.

Para lograrlo, requiere de una contínua rehabilitación especializada de lenguaje y motricidad; enfermera y seguimiento médico, que hoy ya no cubre el seguro.

Hemos destinado con el alma todo lo que ha estado en nuestras posibilidades, pero los gastos hoy nos rebasan.

Por eso hoy acudimos a ti con humildad y con el corazón en las manos.

Esta campaña fue redactada por Jacqueline Russek, cuñada de Sharon, en nombre de toda la familia. La cuenta está registrada a nombre de Sergio Russek, esposo de Sharon, quien administra directamente todos los fondos para cubrir los gastos médicos de su recuperación: rehabilitación especializada, enfermera y seguimiento médico. Sergio está con Sharon en casa todos los días y coordina directamente con su equipo de salud.

SHARON SULKIN: Help her recover her life after a stroke

On October 26th, Sharon’s life — and the life of her entire family — changed in an instant.

It was a Sunday like any other. We woke up thinking it would be just another ordinary day. She was in the kitchen with her son when, suddenly, she couldn’t speak anymore...

She had suffered a massive ischemic stroke caused by multiple blood clots, with no prior warning and no symptoms.

She is now facing the hardest battle of her life...

She spent three months in the hospital, in intensive care, and we didn’t know if she would ever wake up.

¡¡Thank G-d, Sharon woke up — aware and conscious!!

Sharon is 52 years old, a mother of two young adults, 19 and 21. She is a remarkable woman, deeply loved by her husband, her family, and everyone who has ever had the privilege of knowing her.

She is now home, but she remains bedridden with limited speech and mobility. She cannot yet walk, and she cannot move the right side of her body.

After four months of intense work have gone by — with Sharon -with an unbreakable inner strenght-, and with the help of doctors, therapists, and family, we are giving everything we have so she can achieve her recovery. There has been progress, but there is still a long road ahead...

We must act with urgency: the first year after a stroke is when the brain’s neuroplasticity is at its greatest capacity to heal and regenerate — and time is not on our side.

Unfortunately, the specialized speech and motor rehabilitation she needs daily, along with nursing care and medical follow-up, are not covered by insurance.

We have given everything we have — with all our hearts — but the costs have now exceeded what we are able to manage on our own.

That is why we come to you today, with humility and our hearts in our hands.
