Hello Everyone,

We're Deanna Frieze and Mathilde Fanous, and we've created this GoFundMe to support our dear friend Sharon's family, her husband Dwight and their daughters Zoe and Aleeya, during this deeply difficult time.

As many of you know, Sharon was a truly selfless and remarkable person. Even as she battled cancer for over ten years, she remained dedicated to helping others. Using her own journey as a platform to raise awareness and funds for Indigenous communities in Guatemala through Fundamaya, the nonprofit she and Dwight founded together.

Now, it's our turn to give back to Sharon and her family.

Over the past months, Dwight has been on unpaid leave so he could be by Sharon's side through her final stages and support their daughters through an incredibly emotional time. This has created significant financial strain. When he is working, Dwight is no stranger to hard work often holding down two jobs including driving for Uber to help fund both his family and their ongoing community projects in Guatemala. He has never hesitated to put others first, even sending much of his own income to sustain the work Sharon began.

The family now faces the costs of two memorial, one in California, where Sharon spent her final days, and another in Guatemala, where she dedicated so much of her heart and life's work. These expenses include:
