Sharon McCormick Cancer Treatment and Support Fund
Donation protected
We are creating this page to ask for your donations to help support our mom, Sharon McCormick, as she undergoes treatments to battle cancer. Specifically, stage four metastatic malignant melanoma, with five brain mets, nodules on both lungs, one adrenal gland, and one rib.
Sharon's diagnosis came as a sudden shock to our family in December of last year. In a matter of weeks, she went from her happy self, finishing her master’s degree, to battling stage four melanoma cancer. Since her diagnosis, Sharon has undergone two brain surgeries to remove the largest tumors, a week-long radiation treatment to target the remaining brain tumors, and now is building her strength at home while we aim towards immunotherapy in the coming months.
Despite the immense challenges she faces, Sharon has remained resilient, fueled by her unwavering faith and endless love for her family. Those who know our mom understand the depth of her compassion and the impact she has had as a patient advocate in healthcare and as a volunteer with Love on a Leash. In her pursuit to help others, Sharon recently chose to pursue a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. During the program, Sharon worked as a counselor for hospice care patients and their families, as well as for struggling high school students. This is all a testament to the person she is. Our mom is warm even in times of trouble and is the heart and soul of our family. She’s not only a mother to us, but to our friends and extended family who also receive her motherly love and kindness. She is incredibly caring and has spent her entire life dedicated to helping others.
Now we ask for your help and support as we continue navigating the road ahead. Our father, Don has become her full-time caregiver dedicating every moment to providing emotional and physical care to our mom. The financial, emotional, and physical burden is truly hard to describe, so we ask for help through donations if even enough for a meal or cup of coffee. Every donation helps lift the weight our family is enduring.
Below is a recap of where her diagnosis stands and the plan moving forward. Please consider donating and please add Sharon and our family to your thoughts and prayers. For additional details on Sharon's health journey and future updates, please read our CaringBridge
