Covid Care, Sharon - No Paycheck, 1 Mo Support

NEED: Sharon used her savings to get through January. She has two teenaged children at home and will not be able to work for at least 4 more months to pay her bills, which includes hospitalization costs, medical supplies, basic living expenses, and legal fees. She received the legally required Covid-19 paycheck for 80 hrs, or two weeks of pay, which lasted only until the last week of December.  From her sickbed, she applied and was inaccurately denied short-term disability.  Also, her company's HR coordination of workman's comp is dragging its feet for filing & approval.  She has contacted a lawyer, as she has no energy or health to handle or coordinate any filings or further appeals. She is on bed-rest and oxygen still. Below is the need breakdown.

Hospitalization (20% not covered by insurance plus annual deductible) = $8,000. Medical supplies = $380/month x Feb/Mar/April. Living Expenses (mortgage, PMI, car payment/insurance, winter utilities, food) = $2200/month x Feb/Mar/April. Legal representation (retainer/filings/appeal) = $6800.

IMMEDIACY: February's bills are due soon, and she needs your financial support and kindness to help her get through February, March, and April.  Your quick response will help her heal, too, as she is beside herself with worry about her mortgage, car payment, and food for her teens. She thinks of herself last, which is why we need to help her now.

I am her elder sister, Susan, who is asking on her behalf. Her previous superviser, a good friend to her, is an administrator for this page.  Please help us to help her. She needs your encouragement and good will right now. Thank you.

THE INCIDENT: Sharon is an essential worker. After working for more than 9 months without incident, she contracted Covid-19 at work the last week of November from a coworker whose family, all essential workers, had it. Unfortunately, Sharon also has an underlying condition of extreme asthma, and Covid-19 was especially damaging for her.  She tested negative the first week she was ill, but went to the emergency room where she tested positive for Covid-19 and was immediately hospitalized as very critical for 5 days. Sharon was released from the hospital on her birthday, December 15th, with an oxygen tank and regemen of medicines that included glucose blood self-testing.

DIAGNOSIS: The official hospital diagnosis was (a) positive for Covid-19, (b) pneumonia due to Covid-19 virus, (c) hypoxia [no oxygen to tissues], (d) acute respiratory distress syndrome [ARDS - lungs] due to severe acute Corona virus II, (e) asthmatic complications and oxygen dependent, & (f) brochitis with brochial spasms. She is currently also borderline diabetic due to the Covid-19 treatment and is experiencing Post-Covid-19 Fatigue, an official term relating to the brain effects of having the illness.
