Hi, my name is Rebecca Pike, and I’m fundraising to donate one or two Dyson Hot + Cool fans to Belfast City Hospital in honour of my mum. These I have priced online at £400.

During her most recent hospital stay, my mum was given a standard fan — but unfortunately, it just didn’t offer the same comfort she’d experienced before. It was noisy, didn’t cool the room effectively, and couldn’t provide warmth when she needed it. On a previous stay, she had access to a Dyson fan, and it made a real difference: quiet, efficient, and able to keep her at a comfortable temperature no matter what she needed. That small bit of comfort meant so much in a difficult time.

Sadly, due to a shortage, the Dyson fans weren’t available during her final stay.

I want to help change that. I’m raising funds to purchase at least one (hopefully two!) Dyson Hot + Cool fans to donate directly to the ward at Belfast City Hospital. The fans will be there for other patients and families in similar situations — offering practical, immediate comfort when it’s needed most.

To honour my mum, each fan will include a small plaque or label stating that it was donated in her memory – a simple way to make sure her kindness and spirit continue to support others.

If you’ve ever spent time with a loved one in hospital, you’ll know how much of a difference small comforts can make. This donation is my way of giving back and helping others feel cared for during incredibly hard moments.

Any donation, big or small, will go directly towards purchasing the fans and delivering them to the ward.
