Shari Nowak's Medical Expenses

Hello,

My name is Jessica Foss, and I am a good friend of Linda and Shari Nowak. They have twin boys, Ben and Blake (10 years old). My family met the Nowak's through Hometown Hockey, where my son met Ben and became best friends. Since then, we have become very close to Linda, Shari, and the boys. They are a beloved part of the hockey community.

On Sunday, 8/21, Shari started having a headache while at home, and it progressively got worse. Shari said something didn't feel right, so Linda called 911. Shari ended up having a vertebral artery dissection and aneurysm. I spoke with Linda last night, and she said that Shari had emergency surgery last night. She is currently at United hospital ICU. Shari was intubated and sedated to help monitor cerebral fluid in the brain.

Shari woke up today (Monday, 8/22). Per Linda: "The nurse said her signs were good, and she was fighting to get the vent out so they went ahead and removed it. She's talking but needs to sleep. She repeats some questions but seems to be pretty sharp. She still has the drain in and they will need her in the hospital for at least 21 days to watch for Vasil spasms. I guess these can cause more strokes so they need to watch for this. We are sitting with her letting her sleep"

I am not sure what the near future looks but with the long road to recovery for Shari, I am hoping we can all rally together to help raise funds to help with medical expenses or at least help with other financial costs during this time. Anything that can help make the financial burden a little easier.
