Shari Morrow passed away at home on the WineCup ranch in Folsom, NM on Monday, April 15th. Shari was born in Raton NM in February of 1956, the second child of Richard and June Bannon, and grew up on the family ranch in Northeast New Mexico. As a child, she was happiest helping Granddaddy Leonard with the horses and cattle and developed a lifelong love of both—which she instilled in her daughters. Shari enjoyed rodeoing and showing home-raised cattle. She attended New Mexico State where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science in three years, ran track, and judged livestock.
Shari was proud to be a fifth generation rancher and returned home to help work the ranch her great-great grandmother homesteaded. She loved her cows, and for her favorites, could identify three generations. She felt privileged to be called to care for the land and animals entrusted to her stewardship. Shari and her three dogs were well known and loved in the community. She would always stop to offer a helping hand and unfailingly treated everyone with respect and dignity. She employed her dry wit with skillful timing learned from her dad. She was genuine, kind, and had steadfast faith in a God whose mercies are new every morning.
She was preceded by her brother, Jeffrey Richard Bannon of Folsom, New Mexico, and her dad, Frank Richard Bannon also of Folsom, New Mexico.
Shari is survived by her daughters Erin Morrow Hawley of Springfield, Missouri, Maggie Morrow Ramnath of Chicago, Illinois, and Rori Morrow Mankins of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Elijah and Blaise Hawley of Springfield, Missouri, and Isaiah Mankins of Wichita, Kansas; her mom June Bannon of Folsom, New Mexico; her brother, Brett Bannon of Folsom, New Mexico, and her sisters Debbie Webster of Rye, Colorado, and Heidi Kenworthy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Shari L Morrow Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will help support the higher education of a graduate of the Des Moines High School.
