October 17, 2017: we received a group text from Lindsey, which included several other VSR volunteers and board members and the co-founder, that Shari had been attacked. Stating that “she was pretty much scalped” and she had been taken to UMC.
On this day our good friend Shari Dale got attacked by a dog named Dax from Lied Animal Shelter that she was trying to save. Serving as co-founder of Vegas Shepherd Rescue Shari came into contact with the worst situations including abuse, neglect and abandonment of these wonderful animals. She stayed the course and placed Shepherd after Shepherd into loving homes. These dogs become family members and the difference she's made in the Vegas community is irrefutable as numbers don't lie. In her own words "after saving over 500 dogs this was bound to happen".
After two years of surgeries, skin grafts and tissue expansions it's finally time to ask for assistance. While friends like Jennifer, Lindsay and Scott have been there for Shari the medical bills add up. THIS IS A CAMPAIGN THAT IS LONG OVERDUE.
Sometimes a sense of humor can save a life. Shari has endured based on this personality trait and perhaps nothing more. If you're looking for a true "angel" of Las Vegas look no further.
Finally, Shari is responsible for placing our second Shepherd Lucy with us. She saved Lucy's life before we were able to become involved. Every morning when Lucy wakes me up (on her schedule) I think about what life would be like without her. Shari is responsible for so much happiness and now, in true Vegas fashion, it's time to return the favor.
