The Rodriguezes are a joyful, loving family of six: Mr. Rodriguez, Mrs. Rodriguez, and four young children. Right now, they are facing significant economic hardship.

 

Mr. Rodriguez, who has lived in the United States for over thirty years, has been fighting his deportation since 2017. ICE arrested him in front of his children after picking them up from school, and went on to detain him for more than 2.5 years. Mr. Rodriguez was reunited with his family in December 2019. Although they continue to confront the threat of deportation and grapple with the trauma that ICE has inflicted on them, the family is more united than ever. As their defense team, we are in awe of the love, care, and grace they have for one another.

 

Recently, Mrs. Rodriguez was badly injured at work. She will have surgery in February. During the eight-week recovery period, she will not be able to walk, and will not be able to work at her job as a home health aide. The loss of Mrs. Rodriguez's income is a critical blow, as the family has struggled to make ends meet since ICE detained Mr. Rodriguez, forcing him to shut down his construction business.
