Hope for a Next Level Generation
As the Founder of Share Necessities, I want to personally invite each of you to be a part of our growth in the community.
Like most young people growing up in distressed neighborhoods, I experienced a harsh life early-on; filled with depression, hopelessness, low self-esteem, physical and verbal abuse, drugs and violence. After being fatally shot and paralyzed as a young adult, I understood that my life, and that of others, had far more value and purpose. Through learning to reprogram my mind, thoughts, and emotional responses, I was able to find a new path. I am now certified yoga and meditation teacher, have a master’s degree in business development, and in 2014, I founded Share Necessities.
The mission of Share Necessities, a non-profit organization that reaches deep into underserved communities, is to address and resolve issues similar to those I experienced growing up. With this fundraiser, I am proud to announce the grand opening of our first community wellness center in South Central Los Angeles. In creating the Next Level CommUNITY Center, our hope and objective is for local youth and young adults to come and destress and regroup from the daily impact and influences of inner-city living. Our programming will offer holistic practices to: calm and relax the stressed mind, gain relief from anxiety, and allow youth to focus inward and reflect on thoughts and actions. Providing the Share Necessities developed I Make It Count! program will offer positive activities and experiences that demonstrate [and practice] healthy and thriving lifestyles, including: mindfluness, yoga, life skills, emotional intelligence, and professional development. -Each participant will be exposed to seeing his or her life with a greater purpose and that their dreams and goals matter for the greater good of our society.
