I, Aña Marjenka, am sponsoring this fundraiser on behalf of an inspiring young man seeking to make life better for rural communities in Kenya. All attention should be given to him and his efforts. Here is his story:
My name is Yongo Otieno Wycliffe and I live in Kenya, Africa.
My project is called S.H.A.R.E Peace Permaculture (Sustainable Housing Agriculture Reaching Everyone)
S.H.A.R.E. was invented out of a passion to educate and empower many people and also to improve the sustainability of livelihoods for this generation and those to come. I especially hope to help people who are
located in rural areas .
I completed my Permaculture Design Course at Oregon State University. I enjoy volunteering my time to help
with all kinds of gardening and farming work on different farms in Kenya. I have been teaching permaculture free of charge to the rural people and no job is to big or small for me.
I am fascinated by nature and sustainable farming practices, especially with permaculture and ecovilllages.
I was excited to learn to use permaculture techniques because my vision is to go learn and bring back the
knowledge and ideas with me to share with others.
I plan to do this through the creation of a demonstration
center, which will act as a permaculture educational center in order to educate and empower many African
communities about this ethical and revolutionary form of sustainable living. We can work together as
communities to provide an abundance of food, low or zero energy housing, general cleaning and waste
management. Increasing knowledge in the area of sustainable living will improve the lives of younger
generations.
OUR ACHIEVEMENTS:
S.H.A.R.E. has some land, but we really need more land to provide sustenance to the community. This land will bring people together and will help our communities to grow. We will grow organic, non-GMO food utilizing cultural techniques, thus preserving and reinforcing the cultural aspects of the community with which we are working.
We have spread permaculture teaching to children and rural communities.
We have planted trees with children and women in nearby villages
We have also constructed a small guest house which we want to provide free accommodation to anyone wishing to volunteer and stay with us.
My Mission is to work with individuals and communities by empowering them. I especially want to improve the
lives of the rural African. This will give them the knowledge and resources needed to escape extreme poverty.
As the knowledge spreads throughout our area, every community involved will see positive outcomes. They
will be able to produce their own food and other supplies. S.H.A.R.E. aims to do this by returning to
permaculture and sustainable living basics.
Your assistance will help us achieve this goal...
For this to become a reality we will need to purchase supplies to prepare our guest houses so that volunteers
will have a safe and pleasant place to stay as needed.
Our initial goal is to raise $1500.00. This will allow us to purchase beds, mattresses, bed sheets, mosquito nets, as well as buckets and basins for cleaning.
Additional funds will allows us to purchase educational materials which are needed to continue to educate
primary school children about permaculture and growing their own food.
After these goals are met we would like to raise more money to help us to buy land. Our long term goal is to
purchase enough land for S.H.A.R.E. to become a program that is sustainable for many generations to come.
Thank you for your support!
