Can you help support some of Madison's smallest, local food businesses?
Do you know, that tucked away behind McDonalds on Madison's east side there is an active and sometimes hectic shared commecial kitchen? It's in an old restaurant space on East Washington Avenue, that has been updated to accomodate up to nine different small businesses.
In 2013, to open the space, thousands of dollars were spent on kitchen equipment, tables, and shelving. The goal was to create a shared space that was ACTUALLY affordable for small businesses.
Nearly four years later, the kitchen space has become home for many small businesses: Slide, Melted Craft Grilled Cheese, Leia's Lunchbox, Curd Girl, Chef K Clark Pickle's and Preserves, Origin Breads, The Ugly Apple Cafe, and the Looking Glass Bakery. Previously home to LaDonia Cafe and SoHo Gourmet Cuisines as well.
With (really) reasonable rent and optimal storage space, these small, local businesses have slowly been able to grow to find their full potential.
This year the age of some of the equipment in the space became apparant, and in order to continue, repairs must be made. Even with the cost of repairs split up among the tenants, it is insurmountable on their own. They are hoping that you can help them out!!
Your donation is ultimately helping several local, small businesses stay in business!!
Total Cost: $15,000
Hood Fan: $4000
Walk-in condenser move and replacement: $6000
Convection Oven with installation: $5000
Your support would mean the world to all of these businesses, because... their business IS their world.
