Shanty needs our help!

On December 26, 2020, our friend Shantel (aka Shanty) suffered a serious injury due to a fall. Her entire left breast was bruised badly, and her chest wall was in incredible pain making it hard for her to breathe. As she slowly began to heal things took a turn for the worse when she was further debilitated by returning to her very physical nanny job before properly healing.

After a day spent in the ER, it was determined that she had a stress fracture of her upper left rib, and sprained intercostal muscles in the upper chest wall.

This injury has been extremely painful for Shantel and made it difficult for her to talk or take a deep breath without the help of a spirometer. She has been on complete bed rest for the past 13 days with little physical improvement yet.  

As a result of this injury Shanty has been unable to work, and she is unsure if now if she’ll have a job when she’s able to return to work. Her nanny job was a new position and she’s not eligible for medical leave or unemployment benefits. 

This accident has been financially devastating for her, and I hope that collectively we can help her pay her bills during this time where she is rendered immobile.

Shantel is a spirited child care provider and her profession is indeed her livelihood. As some of us know, caring for toddlers is a very physical job and it’s important that Shanty returns to full health before trying to return to this work. Her healing time could take up to a month of bed rest.

She would never ask for help, so I am asking her friends, humbly, to help with any financial contribution that you can afford. All money collected will go directly to pay Shantel’s bills for January and into February. Unfortunately Shantel had used her savings to pay off debts prior her  injury so she has no financial safety net.
