Shantel’s Brain Cancer Adventure

Donation protected
I’m sharing this on behalf of my friend Shantel Scanlon. August of 2023, Shantel was diagnosed with a brain tumor. For those who know me, you understand why Shantel’s story is so important to me, January 2021 I was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumor. As a survivor of one of the most terrifying diagnoses you can receive, I understand the trauma Shantel faces while navigating her new reality.

As I share Shantel’s story with you, I know she has a wonderful team of doctors at the University of Kansas, as did I. Shantel is approaching her diagnosis and treatment with humor, positivity, and an eye toward the future. However, Shantel is caught in the trap many find themselves when faced with a dramatic health crisis.

Shantel spent much of her career as the executive assistant to a dynamic financial planner, and investment advisor, Tee Khan. She is deeply devoted to her career and the clients she assisted over the years. In her job, Shantel assisted her boss, as they developed financial plans. As part of a dynamic team, they helped assure their clients had the means to live the life of their dreams, weather financial storms, and enjoy a long and healthy retirement.

Shantel followed every rule, invested wisely, didn’t overspend, and planned carefully for her future. However, the dreaded malignant brain tumor, oligodendroglioma, derailed everything. Now, one year later, Shantel has had one brain surgery with another due shortly. She can no longer work at the job she loved with people who mean the world to her.

Sadly, Shantel is living a nightmare. She did everything right, and yet because of a health crisis, she finds herself with her savings depleted, unable to work, unable to drive, and unable to maintain a home of her own.

I got to know Shantel as one of her clients, I’ve experienced her devotion to her work, and the positive attitude she brings to all aspects of her life. Shantel has helped so many people, I hope you will contribute to this campaign to help Shantel to heal and thrive so that she can back to the work and the people she loves.
Please share her story to help meet our goal.

With gratitude,
Donetta Colboch

P.S. For all of you who helped me through my brain tumor adventure, I was blessed with all the love and support you showered upon me, I truly believe I am alive today because of you. Please help by sharing some of that love with Shantel.
