Shannon's Heart Transplant Fund

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I'm starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my family and my Dad, Shannon, in hopes you'll consider helping during this difficult time.

Shannon is a husband, father of four, and grandfather to three who all love him very much; personally along with being my Dad, I also consider him to be my best friend. He is the very foundation of our family and brings so much joy and laughter to our lives. in his free time he loves to play his guitar and listen to his music, along with spending time with all of us.

20 years ago Shannon had a major heart attack, one that is know as a widow maker; it's where major blockage occurs in the largest artery of the heart, making it so the blood stops flowing to the heart's left anterior descending artery (LAD) which provides 50% of the heart muscles blood supply. Only 12% of people survive this kind of heart attack, and fortunately Shannon was among the few who managed to. Not only that, but he also was able to recover from it and go on to live a normal life albeit with a weaker heart and a pacemaker/ICD for good measure.

But 2023 has been off to a rocky start for Shannon, he has gone into cardiac arrest twice; first on Christmas Eve where his Pacemaker/ICD was able to bring him back, but when it happened again on New Years Day it did not. Fortunately my younger brother preformed CPR on him and was able to resuscitate him, saving his life. Since then Shannon has been in and out of Utah's Intermountain hospital, where their heart failure team has been working closely with him and begun the process of getting him on the national organ donors list to eventually proceed with a heart transplant.

The goal of this GoFundMe is to raise money to help with the costs of anything and everything associated with this procedure. One of the first big things that needs to be done in order for Shannon to be on the national organ donors list for the heart transplant is to have any outstanding major dental work done. This is because after the heart transplant, the immunosuppressant medication he has to take will make him prone to infections making big dental procedures unable to be done. We're needing $1200 for this, it's just for two crowns which are about $600 a piece.

After that we'll be needing $5,000 to cover the out of pocket costs for the heart transplant procedure itself. Then any donations after that will go towards anything else affiliated with it, like the medications I mentioned earlier for example. This also will account for any loss of income, covering costs of living, travel to and from the hospital, etc.

Any and all donations are appreciated, and please spread the word of this campaign if you can. Thank you all for the support!
