Mom of two disabled (from back surgery)
Shannon has spent her life serving others. She was in the military. She then became a nurse and worked at TMC in the ICU and rapid response reviving patient who were coding. Her life revolves around her two beautiful daughters Brooke and Madison. In the beginning of this year she started suffering from back pain. She had a cyst in her spinal cord that had to be removed. Her first surgery removed the cyst but left her back unstable. The doctors then did a second surgery within the month. Within a week of her second surgery she was in a hit and run accident, adding insult to injury.
Shannon applied for short term disability but found herself in a
fight with the insurance which claims she has a Worker’s Compensation Injury, which she does not. She has yet to clear up this issue. Shannon has not worked since the last week in February of 2021 and has not received any support from disability or other assistance. (She is not unemployed because she is on medical leave from TMC and can’t collect unemployment)
Shannon had savings to pull from but her funds are now running out and she does not know what to do. We suggested “Go Fund Me”, which she is not comfortable with because she is a person who helps others (giver) and is uncomfortable with looking to others for help. However, she is needing a way to cover daily needs for her and her girls plus pay for her surgery bills which are now coming in the mail.
The author of this Go Fund Me also was humbled when a friend set up a Go Fund Me for my cancer fight. Setting this up for Shannon is a way we can give back.
