My best friend Shannon Ellis has had an unforseen medical issue come up and is having to see an oncologist and will have to have surgery in the near future. She has been dealing with uncontrollable pain for over a month and the future is not clear. Her husband is going to have to take off work to help her with her recovery. I am trying to help raise money to help with expenses so that he can take off work to help her without worrying about everything else. Below is her explanation of what happened when the doctor tried to do surgery last week.

I've been trying to figure out words say. This will be long and probably confusing. Trust me, we are confused too.

Yesterday, my Dr put me under and made 4 incisions into my abdomen. Pumped air into my body and prepared to do my hysterectomy. He almost immediately realized something was wrong. A tumor, the size of a grapefruit, was found attached to my colon. This tumor was laying over my ovary and uterus attaching itself to them. A tumor, that just 4 weeks ago was not there.

So in the last 4 weeks, this new tumor has formed and growing rapidly.

The Dr was not able to do the hysterectomy. He did not feel confident to try to remove the tumor or possibly rupture it. He instead stitched me back up and sent me to recovery.

He has referred me to an oncologist that specializes in female surgery. He does not know if it's cancer and we won't know until they remove it. All we know is it's rapidly growing from my colon and it's solid. The pics they gave me look scary but we are just going with the flow the best we can.

I will have a very large surgery soon with this new Dr. No matter what they have to get this hysterectomy done and that tumor out before does more harm than it already has. They will most likely need to take a large section of my colon which will mean a colostomy bag. We are praying that is not the case and they can easily remove it.

So while I am home now recovering from the surgery and still in this horrible pain that I've had the last 4 weeks, we just wait again. We try to keep my pain under control and I try to rest as much as possible. My platelets are too high and my blood is having an issue clotting so we have to watch that also.

Please pray that this is not cancer. Please pray that this new surgeon is amazing and that he can get all of this out of me easily. Please pray that nothing ruptures while we wait. Please pray that somehow we can afford this all because we have spent so much the last 4 weeks on tests and surgery and now we have to pay so much more than we ever expected.
