Shannon Beats Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Shannon Mchone has been a friend of mine for over a decade. She is married to my closet friend from college, Charlie. Shannon began her battle with terminal brain cancer about 8 years ago. While most of us were enjoying our Fourth of July holiday, Shannon and Charlie spent the day at Duke, learning that the cancer has returned and her best chance for survival is a third brain surgery followed by participation in a trial drug study.

Shannon is one of the world's nice people. She is a special needs kindergarten teacher, and she helps bring a smile to children's lives every day.

Charlie and Shannon have moved into a new home, which Jack and I recently visited. As Shannon gave me a tour, she explained how she'd love to be able to make her living room a cozy, functional space.  She wants guests who visit after her surgery to have a place to sit, and she'd like to be comfortable while she recovers.

We talked in-depth about what she'd like the room to look like. She likes the farmhouse style--she'd love a sectional sofa to fill the empty corner, two arm chairs for under the windows, a new rug, gray walls, and a butcher block mantle.

For Shannon, a living room she is both proud of and comfortable in will not become a reality any time soon. With mounting medical bills, there simply isn't enough money for such purchases.

I haven't told Shannon, but I'd like to help her make her decoration dream a reality. I need help to do this. I'm asking for donations so that I can purchase new furniture and decorations for her living room. Her surgery is scheduled for early September, so I need to act fast! Even a small donation of just $20 or $50 dollars will help me reach my goal. At the very least, I'd like her to have a new sectional couch, which will cost about $3000.

As you know, I'm not someone who ever asks people for money, but this is a cause I believe in. I will send everyone who donates  pictures of the newly remodeled room! Thank you!!
