Shannon & Heather Mayes Memorial Fund

The Heritage High School leadership teacher, Melissa Fila, noticed that the memorial garden for Shannon and Heather Mayes was overrun and in need of attention. The garden was planted seventeen years ago at the high school. She graciously offered to help coordinate the garden's revival along with the help of her leadership students. Ms. Fila hopes to get the students, with the help of the landscape crew, out there Monday or Tuesday to plant the garden. We are racing the clock to complete this project before school is out, but are confident we can do it with your help! Any additional funds over $2,000 will be used for upkeep over the years.
We are so thankful for the help and donation that Reder Landscaping has already made to this project. Originally, we asked for the garden to be scaled down to keep costs under $1,000, but with the incredible response from this campaign, we may be able to upgrade the garden to the original plans that cost around $1700. We are hoping that friends and family will consider making a donation to this lovely space. With your help, the garden will be a beautiful memorial to Shannon and Heather and a very special place for many years to come.
Loving sisters, Shannon and Heather Mayes, were killed in a automobile accident on October 15, 2000. Shannon was home from college to take her sister to her first Homecoming dance. On the way home, Shannon and Heather were killed by a drunk driver. Almost twenty years later, we are still talking and thinking about them. They touched the lives of many and are still working their magic decades later.
