On February 29th Jillian and Brennan welcomed Kiernan Shanks into the world! Not long after his birth we were all told that he would be needing to spend some time in the NICU to help him with some breathing issues. While he has been getting better every day, he is still in there due to not eating enough on his own. Jillian was lucky enough to be offered a room at the hospital and then later transferred to a Ronald McDonald's so she didn't have to travel back and forth to Killeen.
On Tuesday, March 10th Brennan was on his way down to see Jillian when he was involved in a motorcycle accident on 195. He is still currently being treated in Round Rock. He has had surgery on his knee, a broken wrist and a broken clavicle. He is fully aware of the accident but is still having issues with his short term memory.
Because Kiernan was early, Jillian will be out of work longer then expected. There is no solid date on the future to when Brennan will be released, nevermind how long he will have to be recovering for. We are also unsure of how long Kiernan will be in the NICU for.
Both are teachers and will be returning to work once they have recovered. None of us are sure as to the medical bills that will be coming. We have NO idea what insurance will be covering or won't be covering.
