My name is Shawnee. My firstborn, Shaniya, has worked very hard to graduate high school. The struggles, the highs, the lows—Lord knows we have come a long way. It was far from easy but worth all the hard work. She passed all her classes, being on the honor roll all senior year, and getting accepted into 29 colleges. Out of them all, she chose Cheyney University, the first HBCU. I am beyond proud of her; the sky is the limit.
