It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved Shanika Reed, who courageously battled Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC)—a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer that primarily affects individuals with the sickle cell trait.

Shanika was only 39 years old. She was full of life, love, and strength—but most of all, she was a devoted mother to her two beautiful daughters, who are now left to grow up without their mother’s guidance, care, and unconditional love.
