Shania battle Low-grade Serous Ovarian Cancer

My name is Shaniacole Pere, I’m seeking out for some financial assistance because I’m having trouble trying to make ends meet in keeping up with medical bills and living essentials that I need to pay for. I don’t have a lot of sick leave hours and most of the grants I’ve tried to apply for, I do not qualify because “I make too much”.

On October 2023, I was seeing a OBGYN specialist because of a missed menstrual cycle. I requested to do a transvaginal ultrasound to check my ovaries and found that I have a 8.4 cm cyst on my right ovary. At that time, he said that it might be a dermoid cyst or just a benign tumor, so he did further testing with a CA-125 blood work and a MRI. Further on, he immediately called to see him in November and told me that I have ovarian cancer, but unknown to what kind.

I was then referred to a GYN-Onocologist to do a CT scan and more blood work, thus confirmed the current diagnosis. The oncologist told me that my only option was surgery to remove the tumor and to send samples to a pathologist to confirm what kind of ovarian cancer it is. My first Surgery occurred in February 14, and the doctor found that I was in Stage 3 Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer.

This cancer has spread to my appendix, left ovary, uterus, and my diaphragm.

My whole life I wanted kids, but doing so will delay my surgery to remove the cancer out. My biggest dream became my grief..

My next surgery is coming up in April 5th in hopes to remove most of this cancer and I will also be receiving chemotherapy afterwards.

I just want to thank you for listening to my story in hopes that everyone is aware of LGSOC. Most people do not know when they have ovarian cancer until it’s late stages because the symptoms are considered “normal” to the OBGYN’s that are unaware of it.
