Help Shania get the medical support she needs
Donation protected
Shania is a 10-year-old Arrernte girl from Mparntwe (Alice Springs), who has medical issues and has been highly disengaged from school. She is bright, playful, sweet, and an incredibly special person. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her. Her parents are not in a position to support her needs on their own.
Shania’s Aunty lives in the Byron Bay Area with Shania’s two cousins who go to school there. The Aunty has offered to help facilitate Shania to get the medical treatment she needs, and from here to see what she can do to help Shania catch up with her academic needs. This would mean Shania and two family members (Aunties/mother/grandmother) coming to Byron Bay Area, so that she is not away from family she normally lives with for she has never left Central Australia before.
This is a very complicated and unpredictable situation. However, after years of conversations regarding how to help Shania and her family, this plan and set-up seems the most likely to help in a safe and sustainable way.
With YOUR donation we will fly out Shania, and these two family members to the Byron Bay Area where we have already connected with specialists and doctors who have elected to treat her mostly bulk billed. For return flights for 3 people we need roughly $3000 at this stage (as Alice Springs flights are super expensive). Anything that is left over will go towards Shania’s rehabilitation and educational needs, or future flights.
On behalf of this gorgeous human being, we thank you.
