Shane Hughston’s Beautiful Heart

As you may or may not know, a month ago Shane was admitted to the hospital with what was initially thought to be a bad case of pneumonia, yet turned out to be a diagnosis of a heart condition called HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY. He had a very advanced case of HOCOM and went into cardiac arrest twice. He was placed on ECMO - a heart and lung bypass type machine and it was a very, very scary time. But Shane's a fighter and with Melissa by his side 24/7, his heart started getting stronger, he was able to have the needed heart procedure and then miraculously opened his eyes and squeezed Melissa's hand! Every day since then has been a miracle, with baby steps of progress. Shane is now out of ICU and in the Neuro Rehab tower at IMC. He's walking more everyday and in Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. Obviously it's been a roller coaster of events and emotions, but we're just so happy to have our Shane in our lives - talking, joking and smiling (he's ready to go to Frightmares). 

If you know Melissa, you know she never ever asks anyone for anything (she hates imposing on people) - but now is the time to rally around her and Shane with our love and support. As you can imagine, this experience is and will be financially overwhelming (not being able to work for several months, costs for months in the hospital, being life flighted, etc). Our wish is for Melissa to only focus on Shane's health - so if there's anything you can give to help them financially, it would help so much. Thanks so much for your ongoing prayers, healing thoughts and energy - they mean so much to Melissa.
