Help Shane Have One More Big Adventure.
My beautiful friend Shane just turned 50 — a milestone that his loving family & friends are so grateful to celebrate. He’s a proud dad of three (who absolutely adore him), a down-to-earth soul with a cheeky sense of humour, and someone who’s lived a big, beautiful life full of stories, adventures, laughter, and love.
But in February 2024 Shane was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a cruel and progressive illness that’s slowly taking away the things he loves — movement, independence, and freedom.
His medical specialists gave him around two years from diagnosis to the end of his life. It’s hit hard in all the ways you can imagine….not just physically, emotionally, but financially too.
Shane had to give up work last year, fold his business in Maitland & relocate to the Gold Coast to live with his sister Joce, to be closer to family support.
He is trying to make ends meet on a disability support pension and spends most of his pension on supplements & natural healing therapies not covered under NDIS to try to hold the condition at bay for as long as he can, so that he can have some more precious time with his children, family and friends.
One thing Shane & his brother Chris have always loved since they were kids is American football. So when Chris heard that their favourite childhood NFL teams, the Washington Commanders & the Miami Dolphins, were playing in Madrid, Spain in November 2025, he wanted to take his big brother on one last big adventure.
A chance to reconnect, to laugh like they used to, to create memories that will mean the world to all of us.
The only thing standing in the way?
Money.
So we’re raising funds to help cover Shane’s travel costs, accommodation, support needs, and everything else required to make this trip possible — safely and comfortably. Because while MND is taking a lot, we don’t want it to take this moment too.
If you’re in a position to donate, we would be forever grateful.
If not, even sharing this would help more than you know.
Thank you for helping us give Shane, a beautiful dad, brother and friend, something truly priceless — time, connection, and one more beautiful memory.
Thank you
