SHANE’S CHANCE IN LIFE!!
Donation protected
Hello to everyone that has been following and supporting Shane’s fight against Brain Cancer.
I wanted to share and update you all on Shane’s journey so far…
Thanks to everyone’s generosity and care through donating to Shane’s cause he has been able to have treatment in Cancun Mexico at “Hope4Cancer”
These funds came from single donations and fundraising from (family, friends, their kids football teams, local community groups, local small businesses, and a few different departments within the police department)
I was lucky to have the opportunity to go over there to spend a few days with Shane and Rochelle to see for myself where the much needed funds went to.
The care and compassion was 2nd to none from all the doctors and nurses involved with Hope4Cancer.
The treatments Shane had for the 3 weeks is not left at that.
It has set him up on a way forward to living a healthy life with a daily routine of….
Diet
Exercise
Supplements
And treatments at home like…
InfraRed light therapy
Hydrogen therapy
And many more.
I also want to make a special mention of his wife Rochelle (my sister).
I know when you get married you vow in “sickness and health”
But she is a super star!!
I don’t know what Shane would do without her❤️
For the past 4 months she has spent all her spare time researching. To the point of when they first met with the Doctors at Hope4Cancer everything the Doctors mentioned for Shane to get started on he had already started.
Also where the tumour is situated in the brain it affects Shane’s short term memory, so Rochelle has to be on top of everything from daily routines of medications/supplements, at home treatments and taking him to all his appointments because he hasn’t been cleared to drive yet.
Unfortunately when they got home Shane came down with Infuenza A really bad and spent a couple weeks in bed.
But he’s on the tale end of that now, which says a lot about his
Health and Strength to get through that.
They do have to return to Hope4Cancer in 3 months for his check up….
Their lives have changed forever in many ways, but their positivity goes a long way.
Their love for each other is so inspiring❤️
So please still keep the Gillett family in your thoughts and prayersit goes a long way,
And they appreciate and love you all
SHANE’S STORY!!!!
Shane is a 42 year old Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He lives on the Gold Coast and loves spending all his time with his family and friends, time in the outdoors, cheering his kids on the sideline of their football and netball games, family holidays and is a big South Sydney Rabbitohs fan.
Only 6 weeks ago, Shane went to the doctor with vision problems and short term memory lapses. He was then sent straight away to get an MRI and CT scan, which quickly came back as a cancerous brain tumor. He was then operated on to remove the tumor, but they couldn’t remove all of it safely. Shane with his loving wife - my sister Rochelle by his side received the worse diagnosis possible “stage 4 Brain Cancer” which are words that no one in their life time want to hear.
Shane is a loving, caring, kind and devoted husband and father.
He desperately wants to seek treatment abroad (which has great success stories) to give him more time to spend with his beautiful wife Rochelle and children Reece 13, Bailey 11 and Summer 6...
Shane and Rochelle are not ones to normally ask for help, but they are in a desperate time of need. They have both served the Community in the Police Force for the past 24 years. Shane started off in the NSW police for the first few years then onto the Queensland Police Service for the last 18 years, where he is still currently.
They are now asking for help from the Community to please help them raise funds so Shane can have the opportunity to have this treatment.
Please share Shane’s story to all your friends, family and local community groups. If we can reach at least 5000 people, and they just donate a minimum $20 each that will give them the $100 000 they need!
If you have read this far I thank you for taking the time to read Shane’s story, and any help is graciously appreciated.
Sincerely,
Shane, Rochelle, Reece, Bailey, Summer
and the rest of the family xoxo
