Help Support Shaneil and Her Family Through an Unimaginable Time ❤️
Life can change in an instant, and right now, our dear friend Shaneil is facing more than anyone should ever have to bear. Just 5 short weeks ago, Shaneil tragically lost her husband, Jayme, unexpectedly. As she’s been navigating that heartbreaking loss and trying to hold things together for her family, another devastating crisis has struck.
Just five weeks after Jayme’s passing, and just when we thought their world couldn’t possibly get any worse — it did. Shaneil’s son Evan had been having headaches off and on for about 10 days. After visiting the pediatrician for a second time, the doctor knew something was seriously wrong and called an ambulance for Evan.
Shortly after arriving at the Children’s Hospital ER, Evan was diagnosed with a blood clot in his brain, known as Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT). He was rushed into emergency surgery to remove as much of the clot as possible. Just hours later, he had to return to surgery for a shunt placement in his head to help drain blood. Because his small veins couldn’t handle the amount of medications required, doctors then had to go in and place a central line.
Yesterday, Evan was placed in an induced coma to allow his brain the rest it desperately needs. He is expected to remain in this state for at least a week and then face a long, difficult recovery ahead.
As you can imagine, the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming. With the loss of Jayme’s income and Shaneil now needing to take an unpaid FMLA leave from work to care for Evan — likely through the rest of the year — the bills will begin to pile up quickly.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden for Shaneil so she can focus solely on being there for her son and family. Donations will go toward medical expenses, household costs, and essential needs during this unimaginable time.
Shaneil is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support she’s already received from our incredible community. Let’s continue to lift her and Evan up with strength, hope, and compassion as they face this long road to healing.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
