Update from mama Pam on 7/20. Thank you all for your continued love and support. Shane has a long road ahead of him but is a fighter!

7/20:

"I want to thank everyone for all the prayers and support that you’ve shown my family during Shane’s health crisis.

Update: The infectious disease folks are still on the case, but believe his bacteria came from his mouth (he had an infected tooth that was pulled in early May). That bacteria had months to live and travel around in his body. It obviously attacked his heart valve. The question is, where else has it roamed. They are doing an MRI on his spine and they are going to asperate his hip, hopefully tomorrow, and see if there is infection in there. Many questions remain, but he is at a great hospital and they are taking good care of him. His chest still hurts like hell and getting him up and moving is not an option since his legs are pretty much useless right now. PT and OT are working on plans for helping. He will remain at Washington Hospital Center for an extended stay and then be moved to a rehabilitation center closer to home.
