Shane langdale recover from house and shop fire

Hi, my name is josh penner and I am fundraising for child hood idol growing up racing motocross in mb and a good friend in a really tough time . Shane Langdale was a multi time mb / Canadian mx champ and is an all around great guy ! Here is Shane’s story
“After my mom had passed away in the spring of 2020, I had slipped further into depression than I already was. Since both my parents have now passed, I try to make decisions that would make them proud. I wanted to get back to some of my roots, find some peace and get back to some industrial tinkering while expanding my massage therapy business locally in a new community. I had purchased a property with my inheritance to build exactly what I needed to accomplish just that and designed my own simple dream home. They would of been so proud, especially Big Al (my dad) with the shop plans I had.

My build got started in the fall of 2021 and was my 15-20 year plan. After I hired a carpenter that was dishonest with his qoute and abilities to do the job on the build in the spring of 2022, it has sat at a stand still since as I could not afford to finish it. I couldn't believe this was happening... I put everything I had into the project. After settling some legal negotiations, I'm still stuck with a building I cant afford to finish. I tried to sell it privately throughout 2024 with no luck so I hired a realtor in the fall.

Spring 2025 rolls around and we finally had an offer to purchase singed and ready to go! Possession was suppose to be for June 1/25. A few weeks prior to that, someone had set fire to my house and burnt it down on the day my realtor and buyer were suppose to meet there to do some finishing quotes. I was almost out of this nightmare and now I was back to ground zero in a heartbeat. 2 steps forward and now 20 steps back. I cant even begin to explain the stress and mental load this has placed on me. There has been some very dark days... back in 2022 when things first went sideways and now that the only substantial asset I had left... is now gone. I have to be back on anxiety medication to sleep at night and ward off panic attacks. The unfortunate part is I did not have insurance. Expenses started to accumulate as now I had living rent to pay on top of my mortgage and work rent. All my belongings were at a storage facility on top of usual regular monthly life expenses. Yes I realize you should always have insurance... I was in such a bad mental state after the build went sideways, I let the insurance go. The town is so quiet and nothing happens there and my neighbors can attest to that. It has been sitting for 3 years with nothing until this deal got signed. The fire inspector will not come to look at it, therefore the RCMP can not further investigate which is totally backwards in my opinion.

I have moved 6 times in the last 3 years trying to get through this disaster. The last year and a half I had been living with some friends who were not charging me rent to help me get back on my feet. I was also going through a bit of a business rebuild at the same time and I will be forever grateful to them for their generosity. Most recently I finally was able to rent an apartment because I knew my place was finally sold and would be able to afford it.

I honestly do not know what my future looks like at this time. One thing I do know is I would like to not have to declare bankruptcy. There are still a lot of details to figure out but I now have a big site mess to clean up as well. The land could also be for sale and details could be discussed privately. I am truly grateful that I have some amazing friends that are willing to step up and help a guy with some of his struggles to get through this mess so I can start over and move past this.
honestly do not know what my future looks like at this time. One thing I do know is I would like to not have to declare bankruptcy. On top of more legal and financial expenses to end this ordeal, im going to be losing $320,000 just in the project alone. There are still a lot of details to figure out but I now have a big site mess to clean up as well which im sure will be in the thousands. The land could also be for sale and details could be discussed privately. I also have some brand new in box Frigidaire appliances and flooring I might do a draw for. I am truly grateful that I have some amazing friends that are willing to step up and help a guy with some of his struggles to get through this mess so I can start over and move past this. Beyond thankful.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my story and appreciate all kind messages, calls, likes, shares and donations.
