Thank you for taking the time to visit Shane & Jacqui's earthquake recovery gofundme. I am Jacqui's sister and wanted to start this as a way to help them as they navigate the unknowns to come in rebuilding their lives.
On 12/20, 5 days before Christmas, at 2:34 a.m. a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit the Northern California coast. However, the impact hit their little town of Rio Dell especially hard as this was the area to sustain most of the damage.
This unforeseen event severely impacted their home making it now uninhabitable. The sheer force caused the original foundation to buckle, all the pipes to rupture, and the electrical to pull. With this, the home's front porch was badly damaged along with the back laundry room now being detached and the frame of the house compromised in several areas.
Unfortunately, the home was not covered for earthquakes which leaves the entire cost of the loss solely on them to cover. Their current insurance is not willing to help in any manner.
If you know either or both of them, you know how big of hearts these two have for everyone. It would be wonderful if we could rally some funds to help them as they try to rebuild their lives. If you're able to help or can provide a share on your social media platforms we'd greatly appreciate it.
Jacqui has for the last few years been dealing with private health matters and taking trips down to UCSF which has already strained the couple emotionally and financially. Any help would be truly appreciated!
