Shane Davis Memorial - Education Fund
Donation protected
Our beloved friend, Shane Davis, passed away suddenly at the end of January 2025. We are gutted by his loss.
The definition of a larger-than-life character, Shane was kind, generous and gregarious, always quick with a smile and a joke - and even quicker to make friends, of which he had legion. Gone decades too soon, he was a light that brightened many lives, and will never be forgotten.
Of his many interests, there was nothing Shane loved more than spending time with his two young daughters - especially at the hockey rink. While his passing leaves a massive void for many, none have been, or will be, more effected than these two girls.
As such, Shane's "Toronto Crew", with the support of family, are suggesting two ways in which people may honour Shane and "embiggen" his legacy (yes, one of his many interests was arcane Simpsons references):
- Go Fund Me: contribute to this Go Fund Me - the proceeds of which will be directed to education funds / funding for Shane's two daughters, initially via RESP contributions/top-ups, and thereafter in a manner which prioritizes education and related costs; and/or
- Grindstone Award Foundation: contribute to the Grindstone Award Foundation, where a special Shane Davis Memorial Fund has been established. Donations to Grindstone are awarded as grants to young girls who have a desire to play hockey but are unable to for financial reasons. A link to Grindstone donation page is here - to ensure donations are made in Shane's memory, under "Fund", please select "4 - Shane Davis Memorial Fund": Grindstone Award Foundation - Donation Page.
We know Shane would be profoundly touched by any contribution made to either of these two funds.
