The Daiss family needs your prayers and your support. Shane and Christy have built a beautiful family and a beautiful life. They have three precious children, Briana (Tink), Casey, and Brock, and recently built a new home in the country. They are an amazing couple who have served their country, their community, and will continue to help anyone in need. Their own road has been rewarding, but at times it has been tough and challenging. They endured a serious health issue with Christy several years ago which they fought and overcome. And yet, they are in another very tough and challenging moment right now.
On Sunday, January 21st at 11:40pm, Shane was heading north for an out of state job site and was involved in a head on multiple rollover crash near Valdosta, Georgia. Another car failed to maintain their lane, lost control, crashed into the center guardrail, spun several times, and came to rest in the middle lane of traffic. Shane had no time or space to change lanes and hit the first car head on. After impact Shane's vehicle flipped 5-6 times. If you don't know Shane personally, he thankfully drives a Ford Excursion which probably played a huge part in saving his life and protecting him from worse injury. He was rushed to an area hospital in Georgia with serious injuries and then transferred to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
He has suffered a large open head wound that needs surgical repair, a skull fracture with exposed bone, neck fracture, several lacerations to his ear and head, and a possible elbow fracture. He has undergone one surgery but will have more in the near future. The open head wound cannot currently be closed due to lake of sufficient tissue. A special wound vacuum has been attached to promote healing and tissue regeneration. He is possibly facing multiple surgeries and long-term recovery. This process will keep Shane out of work for some time and cause great hardship to his family.
Shane is a pipeline welding inspector by trade and frequently works out of town or state. Although Christy is employed as a nurse, the financial hardship is going to be significant with the undetermined recovery ahead.
Please consider helping this family as they navigate through this difficult journey and please keep Shane and the entire Daiss family in your prayers. All contributions are greatly appreciated.
