Shane and Bella Need Your Help
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Kem Owens and I am the former neighbor of Shane Leonard, who is permanently disabled. I am creating this page on behalf of Shane. During Hurricane Helene, the house that we both shared was hit by a tree. Shane lived next to us in a garage that was converted into a one room apartment. Shane and his service dog Bella were very dependent on everyone around them - neighbors, health workers, and friends. The rental house we all lived in was deemed unsafe and we all had to find new places to live. Since then, Shane has seen his health deteriorate. He had to stay in a hotel room for 6 months and eat out for all meals. Since he cannot drive, he had to have those meals delivered, which is costly. Thankfully, he has found a new home in Easley, SC. Shane also has had several issues with insurance and other healthcare companies helping him. Shane can no longer use a manual wheelchair and has had to purchase an expensive electric wheelchair. These expenses have completely depleted his bank accounts, and he has very limited income due to being disabled. Shane's precious service dog Bella helps him as much as she can to get around, but he desperately needs financial help in order to continue to live in his new home. He has reached out to support services, but is not really getting any answers. Any amount is appreciated to help Shane get financially stable.
